Jet McDonald

Jet's debut novel "Automatic Safe Dog" slated for publication May 2010 by Eibonvale Press

Automatic Safe Dog

"Automatic Safe Dog" is about a man who works for a company that makes furniture out of living dogs. It is a biting satire on modern consumer culture and human branding.

More of Jet's work will be published in "Catastrophia" an anthology of apocolyptic stories scheduled for release Winter 2010 by PS Publishing alongside the legendary Sci-Fi author Brian Aldiss.

And in Sept 2010 he will be featured in an anthology of stories on the theme of creativity and isolation. "The Blind Swimmer" by Eibonvale Press

In June 2010 one of Jet's audio stories will be available for download as a walking guide around Bristol through the Bristol based spoken word Heads and Tales.

A Bit of Background about Jet McDonald

Originally born in the New Forest Jet has written hundreds of songs some of which, for lack of careful attention, have escaped and now live wild in the woods.

Jet is also a modern day storyteller who has told his strange contemporary tales in lightbouses, boats, yurts, tipis, bookshops, crypts, theatres, pubs and powerstation youth clubs.

In February 2008 Jet won the Missouri Review Audio Fiction Award which is odd as he's never been to Missouri.

In Autumn 2008 Jet toured eleven Independent bookshops in the UK from Exeter in the South to Glasgow in the North with his solo music album "Quiet Songs for the Now Time" and story album "Huffing and Puffing" both released by Cleaner Records in Bristol.

He has played his songs and told his fantastical tales at Wychwood Festival, Home Game (Fence Collective), Croissant Neuf, Glastonbury, Shambala, Secret Garden Party, Hay on Wye, Peckham and Port Elliott Literary Festivals.

He has published his written work in "Subtle Edens"-An Anthology of Slipstream Fiction" published by Elastic Press and "The Idler"-A collection of radical essays.

Jet jointly runs "Folk Tales" a monthly night of leftfield folk music and storytelling where old and new folk traditions come together and share common roots.

Folk Tales has toured the country in a little bell tent serving tea biscuits and rockin' folk to intimate and gobsmacked audiences.

Tom Hodgkinson author of "How to Be Free" and "How to be Idle", has described him as a "modern day minstrel". Jet prefers Revels. The raisin ones.

In May 2010 Jet will be cycling overland to India for a year. He will be bringing his pen, his guitar and (he hopes) a comfy saddle.
